Glorieta Monumento Al Pescador
On the coasts of Guaymas, Sonora, stands the Monument to the Fisherman, a tribute
to what was once the main economic activity of the port. The sculpture, with a plaque
bearing the song 'La Barca de Guaymas,' stands as a guardian of the stories and
sacrifices of the fishermen. The monument becomes a beacon of inspiration, recalling
the eternal connection between the sea, music, and the fearless spirit of those who
challenge the waters in pursuit of dreams and livelihood.
Malecón Turístico
The tourist boardwalk was built over the bay of Guaymas, incorporating spaces for
commerce, tourist elements, as well as recreational areas for both locals and visitors.
This location is perfect for enjoying the sunset, which here takes on incredible reddish
hues in the sky, accompanied by the backdrop of mountains overlooking the marine
waters. It's an ideal setting to indulge in desserts or snacks available from the stalls
located there. The boardwalk is situated at Malecón Malpica, 24th Street, Downtown,
and Blvd. Sánchez Taboada.
Plaza 13 De Julio
This is a historic site that represents the events that took place during the French
invasion. It features a Moorish-style gazebo designed by the builder of the Eiffel
Tower in Paris, France. This place is perfect for taking a stroll with the family, feeding
pigeons, or enjoying a delicious snack. It is located at Alfonso Iberri, between 23rd
and 24th Streets, Downtown, Heroica Guaymas.
Iglesia San Fernando
It is the main place of worship for Catholics in Guaymas. The church dates back to
1701 when a mission was established here, followed by a church in 1750. The Parish
of San Fernando becomes a venue for concerts during the annual carnival
celebrations in the days leading up to Ash Wednesday. If you are in Guaymas in
February, visit the church to enjoy the operas presented there. It is located at Alfonso
Iberri, Downtown, Heroica Guaymas.
Plaza 3 Presidentes
It was built in 1972 to honor three presidents of Mexico born in Guaymas: Adolfo de la
Huerta, Plutarco Elías Calles, and Abelardo Rodríguez. Previously, it was the site of
the pier fort that served as a defense for the port. It is located at Av. A.L. Rodríguez
and Ave. Serdan, Downtown, Heroica Guaymas, Sonora.
Palacio Municipal
Its foundation stone was laid on October 2, 1899. This site once housed the first
school and the first civil prison. Construction was completed in 1923, and it is said
that the foundation stone was brought from Germany and Cabezon Hill. Located at
Av. Aquiles Serdán No. 150, Downtown, Guaymas, Sonora.
Antiguo Banco De Sonora
The Banco de Sonora was an almost exact replica of the Banco Hibernia designed by
the Guaymas architect Albert Pissis in San Francisco, California in 1892. It was
inaugurated in the year 1904.
Casa Ricaud
In this house lived Mr. Enrique Ricaud, a descendant of the French. Here, there was
also a branch of Banco Occidental de México, which began operating in 1900 and
was officially inaugurated as a branch in 1904, taking seven months to complete its
construction.
Antigua Cárcel Pública
At present, this historical monument has 122 years of construction. The
Porfirian-era facade, in gray and white, is visibly evident, showcasing its
traditional construction. This place is currently used as a museum, housing the
historical archive, civic activities, exhibition center, among other functions.
This keeps it open to the public. It is located between 15 Sur Street and Av. XII
Poniente, in the Centro neighborhood.
Auditorio Cívico Municipal Fray Ivo Tonek
The property is privately owned, constructed and adapted by the architect Manuel
Ibarra Legarreta in September 1973, and reopened on July 18, 1998. The first
performance took place on the 11th and 12th, featuring Chespirito under the direction
of Roberto Gómez Bolaños and various authors. The venue hosts a variety of events,
including theater, music, dance, variety shows, children's performances, festivals,
cinema, conferences, and government reports. It is located at the intersection of Calle
20 and Malpica 252 in the Centro neighborhood, postal code 85400, Guaymas,
Sonora.
Mercado Municipal
It is a place to find all the typical products of Guaymas, from food to crafts. This building is
a true tradition since the first stone was laid right at the turn of the century in 1900 and
has remained open to the public every day since it was completed. It is located at
Rodríguez and Calle 20, Guaymas, Sonora.
Templo San Germán
The old temple of San Germán, built in the neoclassical style at the end of the 18th
century, is one of the oldest buildings in the port area of Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico. It
is located on the outskirts of Guaymas to the north.
Parroquia Sagrado Corazón de Jesús
The Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Guaymas, Mexico, is a symbol of devotion
founded in 1881. Its baroque church, built in 1917, and the charming neoclassical
chapel from 1881 stand out in the landscape. This sacred place blends history,
architecture, and education into a lasting legacy. Located on Ave. IV between 11 and
12, Colonia Centro, 85400, Guaymas, Sonora.
Plaza De La Pistola
Inaugurated on March 21, 1906, in honor to Benito Juárez, this plaza is located on
Alfonso Iberri Street in the center of Guaymas. Over time, it has been given different
names such as "Plaza de la Escopeta," "Plaza de las Cervantes," and is currently
known as "Plaza de la Pistola." Later on, a monument was added to the plaza, which
is the bust of Rodolfo Garayzar (1890–1937), born in Guaymas. Garayzar served as
Municipal President in (1922-1923) and interim governor of Sonora in two periods,
1925 and 1927.
Plaza a la madre
This is a historical location where the customs office and the residence of the
Vice-Consul of France, Mr. Jose Calvo, once stood. It is the site where Count
Gaston Rouse de Bourbon turned his back after being defeated by the people
of Guaymas under the command of General Jose Ma Yañez. The house was
demolished in 1908. The plaza was constructed on May 10, 1949.
Monumento General Yañez
General José María Yáñez Carrillo (October 16, 1804 - August 9, 1880) was a
Mexican military officer who fought during the second period of Mexico 's War of
Independence. He is commemorated near the Plaza de Los Tres Presidentes and
Plaza de la Madre park.
Monumento Benito Juárez
It is a monument built in 1959. It is made of Cantonese stone and consists of 210
steps, including the last one that leads to the statue itself. It features lights, benches,
and areas that overlook almost the entire city and port of Guaymas. Civic ceremonies
are held every March 21, commemorating the birth of the former president of Mexico,
Benito Pablo Juárez García. Additionally, it is a site with a beautiful panoramic view of
the city center, and its infrastructure is in good condition. This place is used as a
meeting point for tourists and citizens, especially young couples. It is located on Calle
10, Centro, Heroica Guaymas.
Monumento El Obelisco
It is a historical heritage of the municipality of Guaymas, honoring the Heroes of the
Battle of July 13, 1854, an event that earned it the designation of "Heroic Port" for
successfully defending the territory from foreign invasion. It was built in 1917 and
initially located between Aquiles Serdán Avenue and 22nd Street, next to the
Municipal Palace.
Casa De Los 3 Frentes
It features a cafeteria and breakfast area, displaying items ranging from antique
articles, death masks, letters, personal belongings of the former presidents native to
the port, among many other things, making it appealing to a diverse audience
interested in visiting the museum. It is located in the historic center of Guaymas, at
Calle 22 Ave Alfonso Iberri #101.
Antiguo Hotel Albìn
At the beginning of the 20th century, the old "Hotel Albín" was one of the main
hotels in the Port of Guaymas. It was built in the year 1900 by the Frenchman
Pedro Albín, who was part of one of the bourgeoisie families in Sonora. This
hotel is located between 26th Street and XV E. Oriente Avenue in the Centro
neighborhood.

recreational activities. The sea's water is crystal clear with a turquoise color, and the
